Off Season Free Agency
Teams will be expected to release the equivalent of 9% of their total occupied cap points, with 5 players or less (round up calculated figure if need be). No exceptions. Players retiring will not be considered under the cuts bracket, and yes their points do come off the books. The list of players released will be posted in this thread by each team owner, right after the after the Off Season has begun and retirements/progression is decided.
Ex: Texans CAP = 259*9% = 23.31 = 23pts released
This is done to promote a healthy Free Agency with both starters, second tier, and special teams players. All players released will obviously come off the team's cap.
Free Agency
The Free Agency system is basically an auction of players...with some different rules of course. Minimum bids will start at half of the player's point value based on the point scale. The point scale will be posted at the bottom of this post.
So in essence you cannot bid lower than half of the players value, this is done in a way where we can keep the realism of player contracts but in a very simplified way. Now this rule was created to prevent people from exploiting the Free Agency system:
You cannot release a player then bid less on them than they were previously on your team for, example: I release Peyton Manning and he counts as 15pts towards my cap I cannot offer bid on him for any less than 15 pts while he is in Free Agency, unless his OVR has decreased his point value lower than the intentioned bid.
Players with OVR [80 - 99] under the age of 29 will sign minimum 3 year contracts - can not be traded or released.
Players with OVR [70 - 79] under the age of 28 will sign minimum 2 year contracts - no trade or release.
Players with OVR [80 - 99] between the ages of 29 and 33 will sign minimum 2 year contracts / can not be traded / released
Points used to sign free agents falling under the above categories will last the duration of the contract.
IF BIDDING IS STILL ONGOING AND NEXT CLOSEST BID IS LESS THAN 5PTS, BIDDING WILL CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER 12 HOURS - so if the first bid came in @ 12am and bidding runs it 48 hour course, if bidding is still close, teams will have another 12 hours to SEAL the deal, in this case noon. There will be no other extension other than the 12 hour one, so stay up to date.

Follow the same procedure for players being released / cut for roster space or other reason and color all release / cuts in RED
All signings are subject to review pending verification signing(s) fit(s) under the team's cap and whether any other bidder was effectively out of the running in the alloted time.
